That giant System Data bar in About This Mac?
We'll show you what's in it.
Apple lumps caches, logs, old backups, dev clutter and more into one unexplained gray block — often 20, 50, even 80 GB. McCleaner scans it, names every piece in plain English, and only touches what you approve.
macOS 13 Ventura or later · Apple Silicon · scanning is always free
01 — The problem
"System Data" isn't one thing. It's dozens of things, none of which Apple names.
It's the single biggest unexplained category on most Macs, and Apple's own Storage panel won't break it down further. In practice it's an accumulation like this:
02 — How it works
Look for free. Only pay the moment you actually clean.
No subscription, no trial period, nothing running in the background. McCleaner does one job, in three steps.
Scan
McCleaner reads your System Data folders and processes — nothing is changed. It sorts everything into Safe, Caution, and Advanced, and shows you exactly what's using the space.
Free, alwaysUnderstand
Every category gets a plain-English explanation: what it is, why it's that risk level, and exactly what happens if you clear it. Nothing is pre-selected for you.
Still freeClean
Pick what to remove and confirm. Your first cleanup is free — after that, it draws from whichever plan you've chosen. Most items move to the Trash first, so it's recoverable until you empty it.
First one's free03 — Pricing
Try it for nothing. Pay however often you actually clean up.
No account required to scan, ever. Your first cleanup is free — after that, pick whatever matches how often you do this.
Scan anytime, no limit. Your very first cleanup doesn't cost anything either — see the real result before you pay for anything.

04 — Safety
Built to never surprise you.
McCleaner never deletes anything you haven't personally selected — and a few categories are permanently off-limits, full stop.
Nothing selected by default
Every category — even the totally safe ones — starts unchecked. You choose exactly what gets touched, item by item if you want.
Trash first, not gone
Most cleanup moves items to the Trash rather than deleting outright, so it's recoverable until you empty it yourself.
Off-limits, always
Photos originals, Mail, Messages, Keychains and your Documents are never in scope — no setting can change that.
Risk-tiered, honestly
Every category is labelled Safe, Caution, or Advanced — and anything past Safe needs an extra, explicit acknowledgment before it can run.
Regenerated automatically. Essentially always fine to clear — app caches, logs, temp files.
Regenerable, but clearing it costs time, bandwidth, or re-syncing — old backups, dev tooling.
Real data lives nearby. Only offered with a full explanation and a required confirmation.
05 — Terms & disclaimer
You're in control. That also means it's on you.
McCleaner shows you everything before it touches anything, and asks you to confirm twice — but the decision of what to scan and what to remove is always yours. Here's that in plain terms.
You choose, you're responsible
McCleaner's Safe / Caution / Advanced labels are guidance, not a guarantee. You are solely responsible for reviewing what McCleaner finds and deciding what to select before any cleanup — and for backing up anything important beforehand. McCleaner's developer has no way to know what matters on your specific Mac.
Provided as-is, no warranty
McCleaner is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Its developer does not guarantee McCleaner will be error-free or that any action will produce the result you expect, and is not liable for any data loss, damages, or other harm arising from your use of the app, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
You need the right to use this Mac
By using McCleaner you confirm you own this computer, or otherwise have full authority to scan and modify it — for example, that it doesn't conflict with an employer's IT policy.
Payment and your right of withdrawal
Your first cleanup is free. After that, cleaning up draws on a paid credit or an active unlimited plan, charged via Stripe at checkout. Requesting or using a cleanup is an explicit request for McCleaner to begin immediately — once it's run, you waive the statutory withdrawal/cooling-off period that would otherwise apply to a completed digital service under EU consumer law (Directive 2011/83/EU, Art. 16(m)). Unused credits and unlimited-plan access are tied to your Mac and aren't transferable.
What we collect
Scanning happens entirely on your Mac — nothing about your files is sent anywhere. Payment is handled by Stripe directly; McCleaner never sees or stores your card details.
